Many of the clients we work with have no idea that they have actually succeeded in their long-term goal of being able to have a successful, safe, and secure retirement. They are literally blind to their own success, and for the most part share several key characteristics:
#1- They have no idea how good their retirement could be and that they don’t have to worry anymore if they make the right decisions now.
#2-They have no idea of where they stand because they don’t have a comprehensive written retirement income plan that details everything about their money and plans for retirement. They may have been told “everything is ok” by an advisor, but without an actual plan in writing, they can’t, and don’t, believe it.
#3. They have accumulated a lot of money, not because they’re good investors, but because they were great savers, month-after-month, year-after-year, decade-after-decade.
#4- They don’t have a lot of debt, most with no debt at all.
#5-They live within their means, they spend money and enjoy life, but don’t overspend.
#6- They worry they haven’t saved enough, they could run out of money during their lifetimes, they could lose a lot in the next stock market crash, and that they’ll make a mistake that will ruin their retirement.
